The study from the University of Adelaide, Australia appeared in the journal Arthritis and Rheumatism, July issue. The connection between knee-replacement surgery and smoking is that the surgery is common among people who jog and obese people, as smokers are less likely to jog and rarely obese, they are less prone to the surgery.
Smoking lowers risk of Parkinson’s disease:
A lot of studies have recognized the unusual connection between smoking and Parkinson’s disease. People who have been smoking for a long time are less likely to be affected by Parkinson’s disease. The most-recent study that was published in the journal Neurology, a March 2010 issue, revealed that the protective effect of the smoke is determined by the number of years of cigarette smoking and not by the number of cigarettes smoked. Harvard researchers were the first to provide evidence that smokers are less prone to the Parkinson’s disease. The researchers also proved that the protective effect lessens after smokers quit.
Smoking reduces the risk of obesity:
The cigarette contains nicotine which is an appetite suppressant. By 1920, the tobacco companies started targeting woman with the bait that smoking makes them thinner. The journal physiology and behavior, a study published in the July 2011 issue, stated that the unavoidable weight gain is the reason for a lot of people not quitting smoking beside the addiction.
Smoking reduces the risk of death after some heart attacks:
When Compared with smokers, nonsmokers who have undergone heart attacks appear to have high mortality rates. Smokers have more affirmative responses to two types of therapy to remove nicotine from their arteries, which are fibrinolytic therapy and angioplasty. The reason for why smokers are prone to heart attacks is that the nicotine deposits in the arteries and the smoke scars the arteries which allow fat to build up.
Smoking helps the heart drug clopidogrel work better:
A Korean study in the October issue of the journal Thrombosis research depended on the research by Harvard scientists issued in 2009 shows the positive effects of smoking cigarettes.
